S. Kim Acupuncture & Herb

What to Expect on Your First Visit

First visits typically run 60–90 minutes. Here's what happens.

  1. 01
    Intake & history (10–15 min)

You'll fill out an intake form. Then we talk through what brought you in, what you've already tried, and what you actually want to get back to doing.

  2. 02
Movement & physical assessment (15–20 min)

This is the part most clinics skip. Dr. Kim looks at how you move — range of motion, gait, postural patterns, specific provocation tests for your area of pain. This is what tells us why the pain is happening, not just where.

  3. 03
    Treatment (30–40 min)

Acupuncture, plus cupping or manual work as needed. Needles are sterile, single-use, and most patients describe the sensation as a dull pressure or warmth, not pain. You'll rest with the needles in for 20–30 minutes.

  4. 04
Plan & next steps (5–10 min)

We discuss what we found, how many sessions are likely needed, and whether herbal medicine would help.

What to wear: Loose, comfortable clothing. Shorts or athletic wear is ideal if your issue is below the waist.
